Why you'd want to live in Prosper
With a population a little over 30,000, Prosper truly is prospering. Dallas Business Journal named it one of the fastest growing cities in North Texas. Despite the growing population, Prosper prides itself in maintaining a small town feel with friendly residents and some of the best views of nature. "Prosper is a community that values open space, family and friendly people," says Mayor Ray Smith. "Maintaining a hometown identity and knowing your neighbors is important to us." Family, work and access to nature are some of the town's top priorities. "When people step outside, they see wide open spaces, not bricks walls and concrete," notes Smith. "Most of our housing developments have creeks running through them, and there are a lot of trees and wildlife that can be seen throughout Prosper." Something that is truly unique to Prosper is the hospitality of the residents and the leaders of the town. From the moment you arrive, everyone is so welcoming and friendly. "New residents receive a welcome e-mail from me, the Mayor," says Smith. "And it really is me! I value the connection to the residents and want them to know that the town leadership is accessible." Another characteristic unique to the town is the "Prosper look." "When big box stores approach, we want the store to have a distinct Prosper look," notes Smith. "We don't want that store to look the way it does in every other town." via CCAR
